14,495 SF - Car Dealership & Service Center Remodel
Located at a prominent intersection on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Eugene, the existing building and site were formerly occupied by the Staff Jennings boat sales and service dealership. The scope of the project included a remodel of the existing building to house sales offices and showroom display areas. A service and repair department was added at the rear of the building under the footprint of the existing roof. The Owner integrated new equipment into the design of the facility to upgrade and modernize the service department. The existing site, parking and outdoor vehicle display areas were ideally suited to an auto dealership and were adaptively reused with only minor cosmetic repairs needed.
During the design, we worked with the Owner and BMW Regional Management to achieve the standards of elegance and sophistication inspired by the stunning design of "The Ultimate Driving Machine."
A rainscreen system of composite metal panels forms the primary skin of the building. Special low-lead, low-e coated showroom glass was utilized to provide enhanced visibility of the interior display vehicles. New custom finishes and a total interior space reconfiguration completely transformed the existing pre-engineered steel building, but the existing shell and "bones" of the building were maintained to minimize costly structural upgrades. The final product is a sleek and dynamic remodel that embodies the excellent quality that is a hallmark of owning a BMW.
